Geisha Tattoos

Geisha tattoos represent women who entertain men.  The word Geish literally means "art person". 

So a Geisha might sing or dance or both.  She might play musical instruments. She would be knowledgeable about current events and history.  She would be able to hold a conversation and put the men around her at ease. 

Being a Geisha did not mean you were automatically a woman of ill repute.  Indeed, most Geisha do not prostitute themselves.

Today the Geish is a symbol of traditional values.  In the West she is the symbol of the exotic grace of the East.
